There are many reasons why audio files come in such a variety of formats. Some of them are more flexible when editing them, while others take up less disk space. Converting them to other formats is not difficult, but some programs may not support the format that you need. With Audio Transcoder, you will have countless choices when converting from one audio format to another. The software makes it possible to edit the metadata of your audio files, rip audio CDs and more.

You should not rush blindly through the setup process. The wizard may suggest installing additional toolbars on your default browser. Each time you launch the 9.30 Mb setup file, the wizard will display different recommendations, during one of its stages.

You can use two sets of options to convert audio files or to rip audio CDs. The options are located under separate tabs, so you can find what you are looking for immediately, without getting confused. When converting audio files, you will be able to navigate through your folders system like on a simple explorer window. Once you locate your music folder, you can drag and drop individual files or the whole folder on a different list. A selected file's metadata can be viewed and edited on the right side of the interface.

The conversion options are located on the lower part of the interface. In case the names of the output files already exist, you can select a certain action, from a drop menu, before converting. The software can either skip, overwrite existing files or create new ones. You can also set it to place the files in the same folder as the originals, preserve the original folders structure or delete the source files when the conversion process is complete. Audio Transcoder's central feature is the broad range of output formats that it provides. MP3, MP4, OGG, SPX, WAV and WMA are just a few examples. It is also possible to select one of many output qualities and make a series of adjustments to some of the formats.

The options for ripping audio CDs are slightly different. Obviously, you will not have to explore your folders. If a CD is inserted, the software will detect its tracks automatically and it will list them on its interface. You can choose which tracks to rip by selecting them with the aid of check boxes. You will find the same options for selecting one of many output formats and qualities on the lower part of the window. Additionally, you may choose to save the selected tracks as separate files, as a single file or as a disk image. It is also possible to select a name format for the output files.

Pros

Audio Transcoder supports numerous input and output formats. You can use it to batch convert audio files or rip audio CDs. The options are placed in separate groups, making it easy to prepare the conversion or ripping process and run it.

Cons

Even if you refuse to install additional tools, the wizard will make some changes to your web browser and it will restart it automatically, without asking for permission. The rich set of functions provided by Audio Transcoder enable you to rip audio CDs or convert your tracks, using a very broad range of formats.
